Nowadays, online accounts are needed for almost anything, which means that you have to memorize numerous passwords. Saving the passwords in a file is a good idea if you don't want to forget them, but protecting the files is a safer course of action. With Dashlane, you can store your usernames and passwords in a secure database, along with other information, like personal notes, contacts or payment details and receipts. The software also comes with auto-fill capabilities, so you can log into your accounts with a single click, without typing your usernames and passwords.

Dashlane is freeware and it comes in a Premium edition as well, which has more features and a price tag. Installing the software takes only a few clicks. During the procedure, the setup wizard will install browser plug-ins for Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome and it will help you set up an account. The software is available for Windows and Mac OS X, as well as iOS mobile platforms.

Simplicity is one of Dashlane's key features. You can add one or more accounts to the database in just a few seconds and log in just as fast. The user interface has a modern and sleek design and its sliding menus allow you to work in a comfortable fashion. You can store passwords, personal notes, contacts and other information in different sections of the interface, which are accessible via navigation tabs.

Besides a username and password, you can also insert a web address and personal comments, in the same database entry. Additionally, you can categorize your entry, based on the account's type. Stored accounts are displayed as logos of their corresponding services, together with options for accessing them on a web browser or editing their information.

When you access an online account from the software's interface, your login credentials will be filled in automatically. You can also use Dashlane's browser extension to access your accounts faster. If you are logged onto the desktop application, you may click a new option, on your browser's interface, to reveal a tabbed menu, which displays your stored accounts, as well as other tools, like a password manager, tips or website settings. You only need to click a listed account and then you can log in. Additionally, selecting a username or password input field, on a web browser, will display options for logging in with credentials from the software's database.

Pros

You can store usernames and passwords in a secure database and sign into one or more accounts without typing anything. It is also possible to store personal notes, contacts and other information. The software comes with browser extensions as well, which make it much easier and faster to log into an online account.

Cons

The software may display pop-ups in the lower right corner of the screen, if your passwords are not strong enough. While using Dashlane, you will have to remember only one password to log into countless online accounts.
